The 524 error indicates a server timeout, it’s more of a generic error and isn’t specific to Forminator plugins.
It could occur due to many reasons like if there is a restriction on the server-side with a request, server firewall, long-running process or overloaded server etc
If you are able to replicate the error again then would highly recommend getting in touch with your hosting provider regarding the error noticed.
In general, the error would be more of a temporary issue. Could we know did you re-try to see whether updating the plugin works fine after a while?
If it isn’t showing an option to update the plugin to version 1.14.12 after the error then would highly recommend the plugin is manually updated via FTP to avoid an improper update.
