So I was messing around with my website trying to increase the speed, as you do. Something happened, not sure what, but my site is now all screwy, the front page is not loading properly and the plugins are missing from the WordPress dashboard… content is still there (phew)

Anyway, once I noticed the problem I figured no sweat I have backups of my site I’ll just restore it… here’s where things get worse… I ran the restore and nothing has happened, the site is still screwy.

What has happened here? What can I do to restore my site to its former glory? I thought everything would be back to normal if I restored from my back up.

    Heeeeeelp!!!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi,

    Apologies for the delay.

To help us work out the cause of your problem, can you please send us a copy of the restoration log only?
You can find this log in the ‘wp-content/updraft’ directory of your site via FTP.
Please use an online tool such as https://pastebin.com/ and copy the link here.

Also, we have a general guide on restoring available here:

    Best Wishes,

    Hey Bryle,

Thanks for getting back to me and sorry for the delay in reply.

    @nigelamyes

Restoration process can stall/halt depending upon the total backup size and available server configuration, PHP timeouts can stall/halt the restoration process.

If you are trying to restore all backup sets at once, instead I’ll suggest you to restore each backup set one by one i.e. First restore Plugins > Themes > Uploads > Others and at the end restore the database.

Let us know if above method helps to fix the issue.

    Thanks,
    Harshad

    Hi Harshad,

Thanks for your reply. I currently have no plugins showing in my dashboard, will reinstalling updraft in order to restore my site via your suggested method have any implications? or is there something else I should do first?

    Thanks and Kind regards
    Nigel
