It’s the early morning, the time of high CPU load due to backup and statistic generation. The situation should improve in about an hour.

Is this a normal issue, I recently just switched from txp.

With the Codex? No, not usually. Is this a problem for you?

The Codex seems to be working fine now.

Have you let Matt know ? If not, want me to ?

No, I haven’t contacted him. Either way, it’s back to normal now. Every site with a database as big as the Codex’s has a “hiccup” in the very early morning hours due to things like backup and statistic generation, it’s normal. The only variable is how long that “hiccup” lasts. Sometimes it’s about ten seconds (in the case of an average blog), and sometimes it’s about an hour (in the case of extremely large databases, like syndic8.com). Judging by the last time I accessed the Codex, this “hiccup” lasted no longer than ten minutes.
