• Hello,
I need to do an Intranet attached to a public site. I’m not sure how to do this correctly. Is an Intranet just a private web-site or should it be something quite different? Do I have to install a multi-site?

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Loic,
I always recommend to my clients that they create a separate WordPress installation on a subdomain or folder for an intranet. This is for several reasons. Firstly, you can manage security more tightly with a separate install and protect all pages and posts using plugins. Also, for optimization of page loading, you don’t want to slow down your main site with more pages on an intranet. It keeps the databases separate for backups, and allows testing on an intranet without taking down your main site as well if you experience conflicts/errors etc. You don’t need multisite, no, a single site version is fine.

    Hopefully that is helpful. ??
    Chris
