I finally took the plunge and set up my own hosted WordPress site, but what should I do with my old WordPress.com site?

Currently, I’m using the Jetpack plug-in to connect the two so I can use the publicize feature and receive some basic stats. Other than that, I don’t really need Jetpack or the old site. I’ve deleted all the old posts and pages from it so it’s just sitting there.

Is it better to delete the old site and find plug-ins which can match the Jetpack features I use, or is it OK to simply leave it alone?

Instead of deleting the old .com site, just make it private via Settings -> Reading in that blog’s Dashboard. Deleted .com blogs cannot be recovered, so it’s handy to keep it around in case you ever want to go back.

As for Jetpack, use if you want to, or replace it, there really is no right or wrong way there. It’s actually connected to your WordPress.com account, not the .com blog itself, so what you do to the .com blog won’t affect it.

Just use Jetpack. Though why is this in the Multisite section?

Good catch, I’ll move this over to Miscellaneous. Thanks!
