    Hello support team,

I just installed the latest version 3.0.3 of ShopMagic with quite a few problems and I am really frustrated!

Why on earth do you have to introduce your own GUI, which then doesn’t even work properly (more below)? What’s wrong with the standard Worpress editor, why do you have to use Tiny here?

The GUI completely contradicts the language of the rest of the WordPress backend and makes it uncomfortable and visually … let’s put it kindly: inappropriate.

And what happens with links in mail texts? Why is there a “https://mysite.com/track/sm-click?…” in front of every link since v.3? User tracking is definitely deactivated in the settings and should therefore NOT take place! Not only that this should not be inserted unasked, it also leads to the fact that manual links (eg mailto:) no longer work.

About the problems with the GUI:

In the overview of “Automations” the icons to “Dupicate”, “Export” and “Delete” are not shown.

In the Tiny editor, under “View – Source code”, the window is displayed so wide that it is overlapped by the WP side menu.

Existing mail texts are not taken over with the correct HTML code, e.g. paragraph marks are missing.

    Error during update:

With the activated plugin “ShopMagic Expamle” fatal errors occur (white screen). Since this snippet collection also comes from you, a test here before an update would have been really good.

I love the plugin ShopMagic, but with the V.3 you have done yourself and your users no favor!

    In summary:

    1. the old GUI was functional and suitable for WP, you could have accommodated the new layout here.

    2. the tracking in front of the links must definitely be removed!

    3. Tiny should be able to be removed in the settings.

    4. existing mail texts should be taken over without errors.

    5. bugs in the new GUI should be fixed.

    6. if you still support your ShopMagic Example, please adapt it to the new version.

In the production shop I will stay with the last V2 version as long as possible.

    Many greetings
    J?rg

Regarding point 2 above, the following information: line breaks and paragraphs are (still) missing in the source code view, but the source code of the mail is still correct. How can this be?

This discrepancy is due to Tiny v4 (used in WordPress) and v6 (in ShopMagic) incompatibility. TinyMCE used to mark new lines with \n which is not unusual in programming, but at present editor fully uses HTML notation, and paragraphs are wrapped in <p> HTML element, without requirement for \n delimiter.

From a programmatic point of view, it doesn’t matter whether it’s <p> or \n while we use text content to send an email, but when Tiny loads text, which split paragraphs with \n, those signs are ignored at display, leading to merge line contents.

It’s a silly issue, which we’ve tried to tackle before actual release, but during tests we’ve noticed that replacing \n with <p> in users’ message oftentimes resulted in whitespace duplication, both in editor and resulting email. Unfortunately, this forced us to revert changes, as we’ve decided it’s better to display it wrong on the admin side, but ship it to the client correctly, than break for both sides.

I hope, it was extensive enough explanation ?? Finally, we will find a way ??

This icons still not showing up. Do you use a special font?

Could you attach a screenshot? The font is embedded in code, so it shouldn’t behave this way.

Thank you for the explanation, but it shows me again that the decision to use Tiny (6) as editor essentially brings more problems than benefits. The standard WordPress editor worked perfectly, Tiny has no tangible added value, as unfortunately also the new design.

    Here is the desired screenshot:

I have a bug here in the current version that is really annoying. Even if I repeat myself and fall on deaf ears: instead of designing a new, unnecessary GUI, the time would have been better spent developing the tried and tested version further. So far, I still cannot give a recommendation for V.3.

    Regards.

    Hi,

    here an info for you:

Disabling the “display: flex” turns the icons visible.

Hopefully you can fix this in some of the next updates.

    Hi @zappob

Icons display has finally been resolved in 3.0.14 patch update.

During those 6 months, ShopMagic improved its stability and I think all of your remarks about issues have been mended (apart from those discussing design decisions).

I hope, frustration will pass over time, and you will find ShopMagic useful again.

    Hi @Bartek,

thank you for coming back to me. The frustration was not (I think I mentioned it somewhere) the design by itself, but the not few introduced problems (some minor, some major). As you state: you needed around 6 months to fix the issues of the V.3, instead of that, there had to be more (beta) testing and sub-versions 2.9.x.x. The 3.0 should have then only the new design with all functions working and till then fixing only the design bugs.

    Just my 2 cents.

    BR, Zappo.
