Hi there. We have a WooCommerce site which has been suffering from timeout errors and performing sluggishly as of late. We notice when we use your plugin to place the site into maintenance mode the CPU usage on both the site and MySQL servers drops by quite a bit (can be between 20-50%).

I’m hoping you could help us by shedding some light on what WordPress/WooCommerce processes get paused or switched off while maintenance mode is activated to help us pinpoint what could be causing these CPU spikes.

  • Hi @tgu3,

    Thanks for contacting us.

When you enable maintenance mode, it triggers the HTTP 503 response code, indicating that the site is temporarily unavailable due to maintenance. During this time, certain processes like PHP execution or database queries will get disabled or switched off, reducing CPU usage.

We recommend using the WordPress Query Monitor plugin to identify resource-heavy processes affecting your site’s performance.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    Kind regards,
