What "path" defines in settings?

Dear all,
Under settings , in path options it says :
Path
By default the path is the same as your local WordPress files:
wp-content/uploads/What if I give just “/”, will it sync all my data ? and in S3 I have already cloned folders whatever ever there there in my webserver.
