• During WordPress FTP backup sometimes it ask about options overwrite files.
I suppose some WordPress files are copies, new or updated versions.
But since it is backup I want all files to be OK if I need to use backup in future.
Question FTP Backup: what option to choose when target files already exist ?
    -owerwrite
    -owerwrite if source are newer
    -owerwrite if size are different
-owerwrite if size are different or source are newer
    -resume
    -change name
    -skip

  • The options depend on personal preference. I would choose non of the above. It’s preferable to have separate copies of your backup going back a reasonable amount of time. That way if you later discover that your site was compromised you can restore to an older clean copy. As to what time frames are best, choose what suits you. Alternatively use hosting that does automated backups, and/or signup to a backup service for extra peace of mind.

I would also recommend using a WordPress backup plugin as opposed to manual ftp backups as they are prone to human error.

Please confirm that you also backup the database with your ftp files. The backup wouldn’t be complete without the database/SQL.
