• Hello everybody,

    I am new to blogging and new to WordPress.

    I have a Linux mint 17.2 system.

    I installed WordPress via the Synaptic. And then upgraded/updated Apache2, PHP5, and MySQL5 through the console.

    I searched for WordPress program in the menu, but could not find it.

    I don’t know whether it is installed properly or not.

    I don’t know what to do next. I searched the WprdPress site and also the web, but couldn’t find comprehensible answers.

    Forgive my ignorance. Please kindly help me to install WordPress on my Linux system, and get going. I would greatly appreciate any help.

    Thank you

    Regards

    Thank you cthomasfr, for coming.

    I did as suggested by you.

    The first link opened the Ubuntu Logo Apache2 Ubuntu Default Page.

    But the second link sent back the following error;

    “Not Found
    The requested URL /wordpress was not found on this server.
    Apache/2.4.18 (Ubuntu) Server at 127.0.0.1 Port 80″

    I did the installation as suggested in the following link,

    https://blogmetric.org/howto-setup-wordpress-locally-on-linux-using-lamp/

    Everything went as suggested till “#3. Setting Up WordPress”, step. As suggested there, I clicked on the link https://localhost/wordpress, but there too I got an error as belows;

    “Not Found
    The requested URL /wordpress was not found on this server.
    Apache/2.4.18 (Ubuntu) Server at localhost Port 80″

    How to resolve this?

    Thank you cthomasfr, for your helping hand.

    Regards

    Hello everybody,

    I tried many measures suggested on the Internet but the issue was not resolved. Now I found a link where it was suggested that one command will install whatever is necessary to install wordpress. The command is as below;

    sudo apt-get install lamp-server^

    So I tried that, But I got the following error.

    ~ $ sudo apt-get install lamp-server^

    Thanks & Regards

    It seems the lamp-server package is install.

    But for the WordPress package, it looks like it isn’t setting the mysql database creation, apaches virtualhost,…

    As Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu, I imagine you can follow the instructions at this url:
    https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WordPress

    These messages suggests that your system is with package conflicts between different versions of apache and mysql.

    Hello everybody,

    I removed everything by the following commands.

    sudo apt-get purge apache2
    sudo apt-get purge php5
    sudo apt-get purge mysql-server
    sudo apt-get clean
    sudo apt-get autoremove

    And then tried to install apache2-mpm-prefork through synaptic, but I got the following error in the image below.

    https://filebin.ca/2bXorBVX5Aax/apacheerror.png

    The apache2 package was not available to mark for installation?

    Thanks for coming, Nathan Rodriguez.

    Then how to make it available?

    I don’t know how to add repositories. Could you please help?

    Thanks for your concern.

    Regards
