• So I sent my Host the prepared question…..
    <<<I’m interested in running the open-source WordPress blogging software and I was wondering if

    my account supported the following:
    * PHP 4.2 or greater
    * MySQL 3.23.23 or greater
    * The mod_rewrite Apache module
    >>>>
    And their response was this……
    “”You will need to upload a phpinfo.php script. This script will provide the needed information””
    I looked through the installation documentation but can’t find where it shows how to set that up?? Does anyone know where I can find that info?

    Much appreciated!

  • wow, who the heck are you hosting with anyway? Go find yourself better hosting man. Lots of places to look for one (webhostingtalk.com, whreviews.com, premium20.com)

    So the consensus is, if I want to use WordPress in all it’s glory……..find another Host?

    Is it simply because the lack of being able to Permalink or because other features are not going to be easy as well?

    Stricly my opinion: Your host seems like it’ll handle WordPress just fine. Sure, you won’t be able to use “pretty permalinks”, but you’ll be able to do “almost pretty” if so inclined (see that link I provided earlier for examples).

    I think most of the responders are more concerned about your host having *you* determine if they met the requirements. That’s, perhaps, a sign of things to come if you need future support… or perhaps it isn’t.

    That’s up to you to decide.

    Thanks Handy! I do really like the Pretty Permalinks….if I did a blog that got popular I can see where that would just make much more sense.

    I’m going to look over the other Hosting options on that WordPress page. It may just be time to move on. I’ve been with these guys for quite some time.
