    Hi there,

After having tried all I can think of, the WordPress community is my last hope. And I hope you can help me find out what I need for my website.

I’ve got an export company. And customers are placing orders through the phone or through our contact form.

After the order is placed, it’s entered or updated by one of our employees. Finally, at the time of picking up the items that need to be exported, the order details are being double checked to see if they match the items that need to be shipped. After checking, the order is updated by one of our employees and the payment is made by the customer. And finally after the payment is made, the order is closed.

Basically I’m looking for two things…

A way to enter or update a lot of orders in a fast and easy way in different stages of the order process. And a way for the customer to check their order history online and place new orders with their account.

Basically it’s what companies are using for their order and customer management like energy companies or phone companies. When they receive orders, orders are entered and/or updated by their customer service and customers can check their order online with an account.

I already found out that a simple e-commerce solution like WooCommerce isn’t enough. But what it is that I need for this remains a mystery to me.

If you know what kind of solution I’m looking for, please let me know so I can continue my search. I’m looking forward to your suggestions. Thank you in advance!

    Sincerely,

    Hashim Naushahi

  • Hey Hashim,

Well, my best suggestion is WooCommerce. While it may not do exactly what you want out-of-the-box, it’s very extensible and there are a host of pre-made extensions you can use to add functionality you may need for your application.

Of course, in some cases, you might need a developer to help you customize WooCommerce in some way, but due to the developer-friendly code that’s easy to extend, it’s easily possible.

Updating order status and having that trigger messages is built right into WooCommerce and can also be augmented with extensions.

I think the key is to document clearly exactly how you’d like it to work and then either DIY it and see if you can find the missing functionality in extensions, or hire a qualified developer to whip it into shape for you.

    Cheers!

Hmmm have your tried Ecwid? It’s like WordPress but for shopping carts.

Sprout Invoices could be worth a look?
