What is wrong with my table coding?

Basically the table has 4 rows, 2 columns, it’s not that complicated, and and I want an image on the left and text on the right. When I do place an image on the left, the text on the right insists on appearing BELOW the image. Does anybody have any idea what I am missing here? Is something in my stylesheet for my theme maybe messing things up? Because as far as I can tell my code seems fine….thanks!

<td valign="middle"><strong>Annie Sanchez,</strong> TreasurerAnnie has a Bachelors degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and Finance. She currently still works at E&Y and also started her own business called Debt Free Like Annie where she focuses on helping clients achieve personal financial goals. She looks forward to helping AIM  as their treasurer so that they continue to serve as many inner-city youth as possible.</td>

<td valign="middle"><strong>Clarissa Barrios,</strong> Chair of Program DevelopmentClarissa graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from William Paterson University.  Currently she is a second grade teacher in the Passaic School District.  As a teacher, she has been in charge of organizing student programs, modifying assessments for students with special needs, leading workshops for colleagues, and teaching second and third grade summer math.  She looks forward to using her skills and experience to impact the AIM family in a positive way.</td>
