    Hi!

I’m looking into this plugin for a client.

We just need clarification on the fees incurred.

I see UP charges a fee of 3.49% per transaction. Does the owner of the website also incur the Strip or PayPal charge?

If so, this would make it a 7% or so total cost, correct?
We look forward to your response,
    Cheers!

    Hi there,

Our fee is on top of any fee that your payment processor charges you. However, in most cases, this is generally irrelevant as you only pay payment processing fees once, either on your gift card sale or when they come in and buy the product/service directly from you without a gift card. You never pay it twice in reality.

If you wish to pass on some or all fees to your customers, you can opt to do so.

    Thanks for the quick response!

I’m sorry but I don’t understand the statement: “you only pay payment processing fees once, either on your gift card sale or when they come in and buy the product/service directly from you without a gift card”

Let’s say the website visitor purchases a gift card and pays $100. Will the seller not receive only apprrox $93? $100 minus $3.5 (from UP) minus $3.5 (from PayPal)?

So sorry, I missed your reply. You are correct, the total fee is our fee, plus the fee levied by your chosen payment processor.

But you need to compare the 2 scenarios.

Scenario 1) gift up gift card is bought. estimated 2.5% payment processor fee, plus 3.49% gift up fee. Then an order is placed on website: 0% fee (because there is nothing to pay). Total fee = 6%.

Scenario 2) order is placed on website, payment processor fee is 2.5%.

The difference is 3.49% fee between these scenarios, which is our fee.

This is how I would view it, because it is comparing 2 outcomes that are the same. But feel free to view it how it makes sense to you ??
