• Hi, there.

    Could you tell me what the purpose of the cookie wp-youtube-lyte_feed is?

    Oddly, this seemed to be triggered when I clicked the like button on my site, set by another plugin. But maybe that’s coincidental. I couldn’t recreate the behaviour on another computer.

    Main thing is, I want to mention the cookie in my privacy policy.

    Hi Chris;
    wp-youtube-lyte_feed is only read/ set on the settings page to remember which feed was selected there (under “futtta about”). it is not used on the frontend and your visitors will never get that cookie, so it would not be needed in your privacy policy.

    hope this clarifies,
    frank

    Interesting. When I sign out of WordPress Admin, visit my site (as if I’m a visitor), and click the like icon (heart) under a post, which is generated by another plugin, that cookie (wp-youtube-lyte_feed) is set.

    Note: This happened on a Windows laptop in Chrome. I’m not sure whether it happens in other environments.

    Any idea what might be causing that? A conflict with the other plugin, or something else?

    No idea I’m afraid. I tested on Chrome & FF on Ubuntu Linux and can’t reproduce that weird behavior. Maybe test in an incognito Chrome window?

    Thanks for looking into that, Frank. It is weird. I tested it in Chrome on a MacBook too, and the cookie wasn’t set there–only on my Windows laptop.

    I think I’ll uninstall the other plugin. Videos are more important to me than likes. ??
