• I recently made a new webpage with a free PDF pattern link on that page. This is something I have done many times of my website, since we offer free sewing patterns.

    This is the page: https://www.squishycutedesigns.com/mushroom-pattern/

But now, I’ve had two customers say that they can’t view the page, and a pop up comes up called “DOC to PDF powered by Ask”. Is anyone else seeing this when they view the page? Please don’t download anything suspicious though, if it does pop up!!

I have NO clue what this is, but I think it’s malware of some kind. I don’t see it on my own computer. Everything looks and works normally.

Do I have a virus on my website? Is it just on the one webpage? Does anyone have any insight into this and what can be done? I’m so worried! I try to keep everything up to date and working as well as I can…

Thank you for any help you can give!!

  • I think it’s possible that the individuals reporting that behavior might have a questionable toolbar or browser helper object installed in their browser(s) that’s recognizing the presence of a link to a pdf file embedded in the web page and then setting off a pop-up dialog.

PDF comes across fine on my system. It’s something on the user’s system that’s causing it as Clayton says. Googled and came across these:

    https://www.google.com/search?q=DOC%20to%20PDF%20powered%20by%20Ask&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

Anyway, nothing is wrong with your site.

Oh thank you both so much for your replies!! I definitely feel better!

But I also have been doing more poking around, and I think there is something wrong with my Adsense ads, and this might be part of what they were talking about. All my ads are small, condensed and overlapping in some cases. They were just fine the other day, but now every single one is weird and small!

I re-downloaded a new code from Adsense, and it looks a little different, and it fixed the problem… it was back to normal on that one page that I tested it on. So I wonder if there was some issue with a WordPress update that made the ads go weird? But why would the coding be different?

I have another old website (not on WordPress) that has had the same Adsense ads there for years, and they still look perfectly fine.

Sorry to ramble on so much… just trying to figure out what might have happened, since I’m so clueless about a lot of this stuff, and something definitely seems to be weird with my ads.

Thanks again for your replies!! ??
