• I’ve just run across the term “asides” and have read through some links referring to them but I still don’t know what they are, why they are useful, and what they do. I looked in both wikis. Nothing.

    Hints?

  • Asides are just little tidbits of info about something of interest that was discovered but isn’t necessarily worth writing an entire post.

And these tidbits would be in list form? With a comment or two? Are these generated automatically via WP admin/Write and one of the key/values or manually? Basically, is this a feature, a plugin, or just a little “something” manually added to the index.php template?

    Thanks!

    Lorelle,

From what I’ve seen it’s done with a hack that takes a category that you have assigned as being the asides, and lists the title along with your short comment. You can style them uniquely or let them show up like regular posts, which, in reality, they are.

Oh, I get it. So, for instance, if I’m using the delightful POP UP ADD IT NOW link feature to add a site that I’m browsing “right now”, I can put it in the category “asides” (or whatever name I give it) and then it would appear where I placed that specific category list.

    Cool. Thanks!

Can somebody PLEASE point me to a blog where these asides actually show up, and draw a huge red circle around them?

    I’m lame.

I need an example I can see. I’m just not getting it.

    All of them ??

    Contrast with the Zeldman post:
