• I recently had an issue with page speed and I was able to fix it by disabling minify in the theme options and enabling it in a caching plugin instead. For some reason minifying with the caching plugin makes the site load much faster than minifying with the theme options. However, when I put my site through Pingdom, I’m still getting a score of “F” for “Adding Expires Headers” and I’m not sure what this means. Does this mean it’s an issue with the theme?

  • Hi @gratschultz2013,

If you have many third-party plugins installed then try disabling them as they make the site slow. It’s also recommend compressing your images before uploading to your site. Always make sure you are uploading images as a minimum in size as possible. For compression, you can use a plugin WP Smush It.

To further improve it, try using a good caching plugin like WP super cache.?

    Have a good day!

I’ve been using SmushIt for over a year now. I also only have 11 plugins on my site. The speed is is fine, what Im worried about is why Pingdom keeps coming back saying “Add Expires Headers”.

    Hi @gratschultz2013,

You seem to have got your issue resolved by minifying with the theme options in other ticket. Let me know if you still have any issue.

No, I didn’t get my issue resolved otherwise I wouldn’t have opened another ticket. Minifying does NOT solve the “Add Expires Headers” issue. My page speed tests are all still telling me to add “Expires Headers”.

    Hi @gratschultz2013,

Please share the link to your site, So I will check and reply back.

Sure it’s https://gnarloc.com/ I’m also noticing that there are MANY theme assets that are taking forever to load as well. It’s definitely a theme issue because I switched to a different theme for a minute and re-tested the site and it didn’t take as long to load at all. But once I set it to Hueman again, the assets files of theme took forever to load again. What is going on with this theme? I never used to have issues like this in the past with this theme.

    Hi friends,

Sorry for getting into this chat, but may I ask @gratschultz2013 which caching plugin have you chosen for minifying?

    thx
