What if someone picks somebody else's email address as username?

Hi everybody,
Probably I am wrong, but it seems to me that this plugin will not behave consistently if somebody picks the email address of somebody else as a username (which, I agree, is not that likely to happen…).
Somehow, identifying users with two fields simultaneously only makes sense if the uniqueness of the ID across the two fields is guaranteed, doesn’t it?
