What if I have weird plugins that…

I’d love to use wp-clone to periodically align the test environment with production (i.e. from production to test), but I’m wondering what happens if I have plugins installed that are doing some activities in background- for example, a SEO plugin that tells google/bing about my sitemap etc.

For sure I don’t want them to do that from the test environment: how can I make sure those plugins does not activate? If I deactivate them in prod before doing the backup, would this guarantee they do not fire up when I restore it?
