• What happens when using the “Re-install Now” button for WordPress?

Will that wipe out settings or reset anything personalized, such as Multi-Site in wp-config.php?

  • Your site’s content is all stored in your database – with the exception of uploaded media files stored in the wp-content folder. So as long as you avoid that folder, you will be fine. All you are doing is uploading a fresh set of WordPress core files.

So, it sounds like, the settings changes in wp-config.php will get replaced with the original settings. But, those changes should be easy enough to manually save and restore.

However, I remember adding one or two custom files to WP folders other than wp-content.

Will those files be left alone?
