• What happens to Custom User Roles and their capabilities if the plugin is disabled or removed?

    For example, if I:

    1. enable the plugin
    2. create a custom role
    3. adjust capabilities
    4. disable the plugin

Will the new custom role and capabilities still be active?
And are there any drawbacks, issues, or advantages, by disabling or removing the plugin after making changes?

    Thank you!

New custom role and capabilities still be active.

Active URE plugin by default protects users with ‘administrator’ role from each other and from users with ‘edit_users’ capability. If you deactivate URE you remove such protection. So if you grant to someone ‘edit_users’ capability you have to take this drawback into account.

Thank you. But how does that work? I have URE active and I could change and delete other Admins. I also logged in as another Admin, and I was able to change myself.

WordPress default admin user with ID=1 (1st superuser who has ‘administrator’ role) is not restricted by URE and can edit other users with ‘administrator’ role.

Another admin can change himself (to lower role) and can do nothing with other admins.
