What happens when I switch from Live to Test mode?

    I’ve been using your plugin in Live mode – works great! I have added some new products and would like to purchase as a test. What happens when I switch to ‘Test’ mode? Does this break my Stripe connection? Will I then need to re-connect? Is there any option to simply use a test CC while in Live mode?

    What would happen if I flipped the ‘Test mode’ toggle to on in my Stripe Dashboard? If I use a test card number, would the transaction work? Would this be easier than switching to Test mode in the plugin?

    No, it does not affect your Stripe connection at all.

    No, you can’t use test cards in live mode. If that were possible, people could just purchase your products for free and never pay you.

    That just means you’re viewing test mode data in the Stripe dashboard. It doesn’t have an affect on the Stripe plugin.

    Would this be easier than switching to Test mode in the plugin?

    If you want to use test mode on your site, you must enable it on the API Settings page of the plugin.

    Your other option is to perform a live mode payment and you can just set the Credit Card Gateway to authorize payments instead of capture. That way after your test, you can just void the authorized payment and you won’t incur any processing fees.
