• I see that although a new version of WordPress Download Monitor was updated to WP v3.5.1 compatibility just 9 days ago, the author also posted a message that “This plugin is no longer actively developed nor maintained!”. Will you take over the maintenance of the plugin from him or develop an alternative method of incremental the database? Basically, I’d prefer not to go through the process of implementing your plugin only to find, at the next WP update, it no longer works because of this dependency, or there is a problem with WordPress Download Monitor which the author is not around to take care of.

Hi Terence and others that may have the same question,

We are assessing our next steps when it comes to integration with a plugin to manage downloads — this is actually something we have considered even prior to the message you mentioned. There isn’t anything extremely special about the Download Monitor plugin (for our purposes), so very possible that we can port our integration to support a different plugin that manages downloadable files. Or, we might avoid integration with another plugin and directly point to files from our plugin.

We also have to balance the effort with the amount of spare time we have since we have so far provided all of this for free.

I know that doesn’t get you specific timelines or answers just yet, but it might be good to note that since we do use the plugin ourselves, we will likely be coming up with an alternative approach, so keep an eye out for our updates.

Also, any input or ideas on easy + elegant ways to solve from the community are welcome.
