What happens if I DELETE the ALL category of Posts & Links?

Thanks for responding. I hope this doesn’t seem like a dumb question, but here goes. In my website https://Toolbox-4-Websites.com I currently have 15 top navigation tabs (WordPress 3.2.1). In the Admin Dashboard, there are drop down menus for “Posts” and “Links”. When I click on “Categories” for either, I get the option of “Add New Category”, WITH or WITHOUT a Parent Category. I have tried both methods with “Posts and “Links”.

When I used “None” as a Parent, the URL of the chosen page showed: toolbox-4-websites.com/category/name/sub-category.

When I used “All” as a Parent, the URL of the chosen page showed:
toolbox-4-websites.com/category/all/name/sub-category.

Why and for what reason, do I need the “All” in there? Are there advantages and/or disadvantages to using it?

There’s no “All” option in the parent dropdown in WordPress core. Just a list of your existing categories. Try:

– deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

– switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

– resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

I Think you found my solution. I do have over 30 plugins, and I’ve lost track of what they all do. I’ll deactivate them, and then re-activate one by one. Good idea. Thank you. I thought the “All” category was part of the WordPress Core.
