What happens if I de-install/reinstall WP Smush?

    One of my websites (all use same theme, same plugins) has fallen prey to the “HoeflerText” font wasn’t found” scam. (I believe every file is infected.) I seek to simplify this site for the time being until I get the bad code out.

    So my questions:
    What happens if I de-install WP Smush? Will my images disappear?

    When I install in again, it’ll start smushing all over again, right?

  • Thank you for using Smush. If you uninstall Smush your images will not be deleted. When you start Smushing again it will check the image and detect if it was already smushed and skip the file and add the stats back – But we do not remove your images when the plugin is deactivated or deleted.
