what does this “fatal error” mean?

    I just transferred my files and data to my new host. I’m getting this message in the upper right-hand corner on my site:

    Fatal error: Cannot use string offset as an array in /home/simplem4/public_html/betterthingsahead/wp-includes/widgets.php on line 533

    I checked the wp-config.php file, and it looks fine. Any suggestions?
