What does Theme Support do?

    Pretty simple: What’s it do?

    I have Blocksy theme and everything appears to be working ok, but I’m curious what this theme support feature is supposed to do or fix? I enabled it temporarily and noticed that I lost the forum header and the layout was much wider.
