What Does “Read Private” mean?

    Just installed this plugin.
    I am unclear as to what “Read Private” means.
    I am guessing it means that the selected user type will be allowed to read “private” posts and pages?

    read_private_posts enables viewing posts which have been published with a “Private” visibility. This visibility can be set in the “Publish” metabox of WP’s Edit Post screen before clicking the Publish button.
