Everything worked great in DevMode but now with the live version, orders are placed “on hold”. The payment is marked as “authorized”. But what does that mean??

I do not have the “Issue an authorization on checkout, and capture later” enabled.

Do I just have to wait longer? It’s been days. Does “authorized” mean that the payment is guaranteed and I can fulfil the order? Or is it just a status notification and I really do have to wait until the money arrives? But then why would the same happen with “SOFORT”? Its entire reason to exist is being instant.

Isn’t the entire reason for a payment gateway that I don’t have to wait?

    Hi @wobbba

The only instance where WooCommerce payments would authorise charges is if the “Issue an authorization on checkout, and capture later is enabled. Testing on my installations using the latest version of WooCommerce payments with that setting disabled charges are not authorised and they are captured immediately.

WooCommerce Payments has a feature called payment authorisation. This will authorise payments from the customer’s payment card to be captured at a later date rather than charge the customer immediately.

    https://woocommerce.com/document/payments/#section-6

To manually capture authorised charges you will need to follow this process. Authorised charges can also only be captured within 7-days of that authorisation. Any charges which are older than 7-days from the date of authorisation can’t be captured and are automatically cancelled.

    https://woocommerce.com/document/payments/#section-10

To automatically capture customer payments as soon as the order has been placed you will want to disable this setting by navigating to WordPress Admin > Payments > Settings > Transactions and deposits

If you do not have the “Issue an authorization on checkout, and capture later enabled, try enabling that them saving the settings page, then disabling that again and re-saving the settings.

Let us know if you see any difference after doing so.

Thank you for the quick reply!

As I said, the option was not enabled. I have enabled/disabled it but the issue persists.

Maybe it is a problem with the early-access payment methods? All existing orders are either paid with SEPA or SOFORT. Also they are all disabled when enabling the “generate auth”-option.

Also the option to “capture charge” does not exist, unless it is named vastly differently in German. That is both with the auth-option enabled and disabled.
I have (translated): “e-mail-invoice/ order details to customer”, “resend notification for new order”, “regenerate download permissions”, “resend order confirmation”, “manually send order paid”. I don’t know where the setting to have the admin panel in English is located.

In the order notes, I have “started”, “stock reduction”, “status is on hold”, and “payment authorized”.

I also have the “Germanized” plugin, maybe there is an interaction?

I have found the setting to make the site English and the option to “capture charge” does indeed not exist regardless of whether the “generate auth”-option is enabled or not.

it says there that support is restricted to paying customers which I am not. I am a volunteer at a non-profit. Does that mean I’m left to fend for myself?

also I just bought something using credit card and it seems to indeed be a problem with the early access payment methods. Only credit card works.

Test order was fine as was the first order using WooCommerce Payments. It took 7 days (working days) as it said it would. However, I have orders now dropping off as “authorization expired” and others that will time out soon. I’ve searched and searched all the support help and it says to CAPTURE the sale using the order page. BUT – no where does it say what to do.

I’ve changed each order from ON HOLD to PENDING, printed and filled the order, and shipped now hundreds if not thousands of orders, and I have no other transactions listed (only the 7-day hold first one) and no payments crediting to my PayPal Debit card (other than the first one). HELP, I can’t be sure I will be paid anymore. What to do.
I have submitted a help on support.

    Hi @toyguy

    Thanks for reaching out!

Firstly, I apologized for the delayed response.

I understand you are experiencing the same issue and since every site is different and you’re not the person who originally started this topic then, per the forum guidelines, would you please start your own topic?

We’ll be more than happy to help there ??
