what does (link to post content) do

Just wondering what purpose does (link to post content)serve. This will create links for the search term at the bottom of the post that would link to that same post.
Does having a link to the same post in the post helps?? could some one explain if that is a good idea and why.
I checked that option to see what it does; see the following link:
