Newbie here, so please be gentle…

WF tells me this: Publicly accessible quarantined file found: wp-content/uploads/class_akismet.php.suspected
    Type: Quarantined File

    Some questions:
    1. Does that mean I don’t have to worry about it because it’s quarantined?
    2. Does that mean I can safely delete the file?
    3. Does that mean that Akismet is infected? I don’t even have that plugin installed!

    Thanks,
    Bob

  • Hey @bobhatcher,

This file shouldn’t be publically assessable. Meaning you shouldn’t be able to reach it through your browser. There should be an index.php file in the Akismet directory that prevents this. If there’s isn’t one there you can create a blank index.php file there and it will prevent the directory from being browsable.

With that said, Akismet is a very reputable plugin and does include an index.php file in its root directory. Are you able to share the contents of the file in something like pastebin.com so we can take a closer look?

    Thanks,

    Gerroald
