    Hi all,

I notice that the following file: ‘wp-content/uploads/GeoLite2-City.mmdb’ the file-size is more than 60MB.

What are the consequences if I remove this file?
Or do I have to disable the Geo-function in WooCommerce?

Please help me out, because I want to remove some unused/unnecessary files to clean up my webspace.

    Thanks in advance!

    Cheers,
    Konijntje

Hi @konijntje , yes, it is a database used for geolocation your customers automatically to their country. If you want to use that feature, I would not recommend removing the file.
On the other hand, if you don’t need the functionality (e.g. when selling to one country only), then you can disable the functionality and remove the file.

    Hi @peterfabian1000 ,

    Thank you for your reply.

How can I disable the functionality?

My customers are only from two countries.
Is it still wise to disable the functionality and remove the file?

If you want to disable it, go to WooCommerce > Settings > General, there is an option called “Default customer location”. Setting it to “Shop base address” or “No location by default” disables the geolocation.

If you disable geolocation, your customers will see the shipping and tax when they enter their address. If you use geolocation, the shipping rate and taxes can appear sooner based on customers’ location (this also depends on how you have your store set up, please refer to the docs about shipping and taxes).
