What do you use for spam control that doesn’t use a lot of code

I’m currently using Google recapture and it’s a terrible thing because just to have it uses 523 KB of code in recaptcha__en.js

And that’s before all the other bits of code and the font that it needs to download

Are there any other ways of dealing with spam or even the local library
