    Hey,

I just installed your plugin and created a news sitemap on my blog, but this all left me wondering, what do I do next –

    1. I use the Yoast SEO plugin on my site, and that’s been the case for 2 years. I disabled XML sitemaps on your plugin cos it conflicts with Yoast, and just toggled on “Google News” on your plugin. Will there be any problem?

    2. I submitted my news sitemap on google search console, and it says “Sitemap could not be read” “General HTTP error 404”. What do I do now?

I did ‘check for conflicts’, and none were found in the diagnosis.

    3. Just a general question, do I have to create a publication now in google news? Is that necessary? I’m naive to this “google news” thing.

That is perfectly fine. Although the Yoast SEO plugin will still complain (just disable that message), there will be no real conflict.

It may be a cache issue but not sure. What do you see when visiting the news sitemap? Maybe share a link to your news sitemap to I can verify…

Just a general question, do I have to create a publication now in google news? Is that necessary?

Probably yes. If your site is already known as a news source by Google News, then you could do without it but even then it is better to set up your publisher center account. If your site is not already in Google News, then the fact that you created a news sitemap alone will not get you into Google News.

Submit your site a news source and wait for acceptance. This might take a while, and be aware that it depends on your site content and how regularly you post news.
