• This is the third time I tried to post my article on Mercury astronaut Gordon Cooper and it keeps causing my whole blog to go all “404 error” on me. I moved it to the trash and my blog looks fine right this minute. I tried with another article I wrote on a related topic and it works fine. Could having Gordon Cooper as a main keyword or something be triggering the 404 error thing?

  • OK. I tried the “new post” thing a couple of times

. Did a new post work? If so, it is mod_security.

Didn’t work. And now my host is telling me that I did trigger something in mod_security. Does this bit of code (apparently from either mod_security or their log file) make any sense to anybody?

A new different post did not work?

Your host is requiring an extra level of security by having you sign in at https://ablogaboutnothinginparticular.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=1641&action=edit&message=6

OK…I remember my web host telling me sometime last month that somebody’s been hacking WordPress sites. Worth beefing up security, anyhow.

I tried logging in at https://ablogaboutnothinginparticular.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=1641&action=edit&message=6. Still not working.

Please post the content of the Gordo post to https://pastebin.com/ and put the link here.

And now my host is telling me that I did trigger something in mod_security.

Can they be more helpful? Otherwise your choice is to post the title, then half the article, then paragraph by pararaph until you trigger the mod security. Then sentence by sentence and word by word.

    OK, here’s the Pastebin. https://pastebin.com/LB6nzBZG

And yeah, my host has a bad habit of being cryptic about what might be going on at any given time. I’ve had to do the virtual equivalent of whacking them over the head a couple of times just to get them to tell me what’s happening.

Guess you will have to post parts as a process of elimination. Title, 1st half, then title 2nd half until you can find the word or phrase that is triggering mod security. This happens ever so often. We have seen it before.

Or maybe take it paragraph by paragraph, I get it. This’ll be tedious…

    Start big to small

    NOT ON SUBJECT
BTW. Trying to send you a comment on the site but get the message, You must answer the question to post a comment. Please go back and try again.

    I see no question.

    Here is the commnent.
I have a copy of the “Results of the First United States Manned Orbital Space Flight”, dated February 20, 1962. You can have it if you like. If it is worth thousands then we should split :^)

My father-in-law was an engineer for NASA during Mercury and Gemini.

I wonder why. Spammers seem able to get through fine. Of course, I keep deleting their comments. ??

And that book could well be worth money if you sell it in the right place. ??

You’re so lucky. I guessed when you called him “Gordo” that you knew something about the Space Race.

I have a lead! For some reason, the section on Gemini 5 is causing the problem.

Try reducing the number of posts displayed on the front page to 2 or 3; the weight of the site is far, far too big at 11.5MB and that may be cause of the glitches.

OK, my web host tells me they disabled mod_security and I managed to post the Gordo Cooper blog post. I hope there’s some kind of a workaround for that. And songdogtech, thanks for the tip.

As we did try to explain right at the beginning, this is a server issue and has nothing to do with WordPress. So we can’t really offer you any workarounds. That’s something you need to continue discussing with your hosts.
