    Hi,

    I have a few questions about the Order Status.

    I plan on selling online services on my website. The idea is that after a customer makes a payment, he will be redirected to a page where he has to type in his order number so he can describe his order in detail. The order number ensures me that the person describing his order actually payed the money and is not a random person that found the page by accident.

    However, the issue is that the customer only gets the order confirmation email with the order number if the order status advances to “Processing”. I’m afraid that an order will get stuck at “Pending payment” or some other order status and the customer will not receive his order number to type in on the page they get redirected to after checkout.

    What causes “Pending payment”? Is there a way to prevent orders from ever getting stuck at this order status?

    Hi there,

    “Pending payment” status is awarded to an order for which payment has not yet been received. BACS or COD, for instance. Here’s more about order statuses:

    Both Stripe and PayPal are instant (so it shouldn’t get stuck in “Pending Payment”, and they have “sandbox modes” so that you can use them for testing, without having to make real transactions.
