I’m assuming that you want a long url to look nice and tidy when displayed on the page. Something like this:
Tidy link to this post
Which, under the hood looks like this:
Tidy link to this post
In your WordPress post editor, highlight the word or phrase you would like to make a link, click the link icon (looks like a chain link) and type in the url you want it to reference.
As far as best hacks and plugins, WordPress is pretty powerful out of the box. It all depends on what functionality you need.

That is what I thought too. However when I do that it changes it. Let me explain. I have this sentance on my blog:
You can purchase the book on https://www.amazon.com.
I want the https://www.amazon.com to link to this:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0929292618/sr=8-1/qid=1150083526/ref=sr_1_1/002-1038503-9132840?_encoding=UTF8
But still look like this https://www.amazon.com.
So I highlight all of https://www.amazon.com I click on the link button(look like a chain). A pop up comes up. In the pop up under link url: I paste this:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0929292618/sr=8-1/qid=1150083526/ref=sr_1_1/002-1038503-9132840?_encoding=UTF8
I leave the option open in same window or new window it does not matter.
I have tried putting a title or not. As soon as I click update it changes my text that said https://www.amazon.com to the big long ugle url:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0929292618/sr=8-1/qid=1150083526/ref=sr_1_1/002-1038503-9132840?_encoding=UTF8
Under html code I can manualy change it but I don’t want to have to do that every time I put a link in and my mom dad and wife can’t do that.
Thank you for all your help with this issue.
Thank you for the suggestions on plugins
