• Hi, I had trouble with conflicting plugins. When I deactivated or removed some, site worked again. However, I want to start from scratch as I have also modified some of the PHP/HTML codes, but this time, I only want the necessary plugins and if I want anything more, I’d rather change the codes myself.
Here is a list that I had, those I think are necessary have check marks. Are there any other absolutely necessary plugins?

  • Do you have a plugin that does site backups such as Updraft Plus? This would be in addition to the web host backups.

I like query monitor which tells you about PHP errors as well as which page template you are currently on if you are interested in development.

    WP Rocket – I wouldn’t live without it ;-).

There are no “necassary” plugins at all. Every one is optional, and you should only use them if they are going to do something that you want on your site.

Having said that, a lot of people (myself included) have alist of plugins that we’ve found are good to start off with. That’s mainly based around SEO and security, but again each site may have different needs, so it’s really up to you to decide on what you want to use.

Also remember, if you don’t use a plugin or it doesn’t serve a purpose – remove it. You don’t need anything extra cluttering up your system.

Duplicator – great plugin for making backups and moving site from one host to another or from local to server.

I wouldn’t call it a must-have, but X! Panda 2 is a fantastic plugin that has been my go-to for quite some time. It includes pianos, guitars, choirs, and synthesizers, among other sounds. You can also utilize them to create your own sounds, or simply use one of the hundreds of presets. The best part is that it’s currently on sale on Plugin Boutique, and if you’re like me, you can get it for only $5 or €5.
