What am I missing here? Images do not show up. fresh wordpress

  • Hi I just installed a fresh wordpress and the Snapshot theme.

    It says start making posts.

    I make a post, add a picture.

    And now the front page just has a bunch of black boxes. when you click the box you see an image.

    What am I doing wrong here?

    I have a new website with wordpress installed everything is supposed to be ready to go.That is where my problem starts I am trying to make changes and add text and kind of customize my site.Every thing that I try to do
    just does not work,Is there a step by step video available that will guide
    me through the startup phase, so that I can get started on this.I thought
    that I had seen one on my numerous trips through the WordPress website but
    could not find it again.

    I first had also problems with the ‘featured image’. Thanks for your advice. But now I have the problem that the pictures are too big! They don’t fit the header image, but take over the entire page. Does anybody know how to fix this?
    I’m using the Snapshot theme (my website is celinevdbrink.nl).
