• I apparently do not understand how to use this plug in. I would like a page on my site for pictures, with galleries grouped by kind and pictures inside those galleries. For example, the pictures page>trips>Appalachian Trail.

I tried doing that by uploading the pictures into the appropriate gallery, and then creating an album with like galleries, and then attaching to the pictures page. so far, so good. the problem occurs after that. when published, the galleries still show up as individual galleries, not clickable albums.

I have looked through the documentation, but i can’t find what I am doing wrong.

  • There seem to be a lot of problems with the latest version. Deactivate it and install the legacy one from the repo – it seems to work much better and I don’t see much benefit in the newer version.

How can I revert to older version, can you send a link please.

I need that link too, the new version crashes my site

Go to plugins, Add new, type nextgen, you should see one Nexcellence…. that is the 19.something version. I deactivated the new one, and installed this and I am back. Galleries in place. It will install in a different directory on the server.

As I said above, go to add new plugins and you’ll see the “legacy” version. Deactivate the new one and install the old. You won’t lose any data if you don’t delete anything. It took me a couple of minutes. I figured this out for myself – I’ve suggested to the developer they recommend this as a temporary fix.

I switched to the legacy version. Still not what I was looking for. Here is the page I am talking about

    https://www.thomas.banks-usa.com/Blog/pictures-2

These are individual galleries inside of albums (trips, food and navy pictures). what I want on this page is just the albums which after clicking on one will lead you to an area to see and select the individual galleries.

Does this plugin work that way, or is that functionality found elsewhere?

I think that is the way it works. Do you have the album linked to one page, and the galleries linked to different pages?

Right now, You appear to have 3 albums linked to the same page, and each of those albums is showing the galleries they have in side of them. If you want a page that contains only albums, then you have to create an album that contains those other albums, and link only that to the page.

    Max,
So I need to have a page with the albums on it, and three other pages that have the galleries for one album on them?

    Check out my porfolio page

Is this what you are looking for?????

The structure should look like this:

Gallery Album: This is the page your talking about
    —Fish Album
    ——Salmon Gallery
    ———Salmon Picture 1
    ———Salmon Picture 2
    ———Salmon Picture 3

    ——Trout Gallery
    ———Trout Picture 1
    ———Trout Picture 2
    ———Trout Picture 3

    —Bread Album
    ——Baguette Gallery
    ———Baguette Picture 1
    ———Baguette Picture 2
    ———Baguette Picture 3

    ——Rye Gallery
    ———Rye Picture 1
    ———Rye Picture 2
    ———Rye Picture 3

    This is just an example.

One More suggestion, All menu items and post titles, and just titles in general should be capitalized.

WARNING: you have a second blog at https://www.thomas.banks-usa.com/blog, that is not secured at all. You need to remove it before someone hacks the site.

Note the lowercase “blog” in the link

seadad, you only need to make one additional album that contains your three albums and NextGEN Gallery will handle the rest. With NGG 2 you can select among several options to show your album(s).

Within all albums you can add descriptions of each and also attach an image that will display when you have a single thumbnail along the descriptions on that page. When you click the album, next level on the same page will open up, showing the album thumbnails of the three albums you want, and clicking any of the the galleries will be displayd. This is needed especially because an album containing only albums does not have a “natural” thumbnail image which for albums containing galleries will be automatically picked from one of the galleries.

So your album / album / gallery hierachy needs to like this:
    – Album (containing your three albums 2,3,4 and their galleries)
–Album 1 (first second level album)
    —Gallery 1
    —Gallery 2
–Album 2 (second second level album)
    —Gallery 3
    —Gallery 5
–Album 3 (third second level album)
    —Gallery 6
    —Gallery 7
On the page, insert just the highest level album. That’s all ??

VesaT, That’s exactly what I said
