• Hello,
I’m having layout troubles. Here’s a mockup of the site:
    https://www.circusmonkeys.com/index.php
It looks fine in Safari but screwy in everything else (Mac IE, Mac Firefox).
It’s *supposed* to have a container centered on the screen that holds the blog (content left, menu right) plus a little space above and below the container.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

  • I’m using Firefox 1.0PR and everything is great except there is no space below the container.

Thanks for looking. When I look in Firefox (mac) there’s a vertical scrollbar on the right side of the menu. When I hover over the menu it disappears and the scrollbar gets bigger.??

yeah I caught the same thing with Firefox 1.0 Pr

I seem to remember a website that would generate screenshots of your site in other browsers. Does anyone remember what it is?

Except in very limited circumstances which do not apply here it is not possible to transition from the default layout to a 2 col centered scheme like yours with a floated menu without also editing the index php accordingly. If you do – it will – without fail – bork in every case. You need extensive surgery or a more robust CSS positioning template.

So I guess the Gemini template is what I need. ??
At any rate, it seems like your template is what I’m looking for and I don’t mind editing the index.php if needed. I had to do that to get where I am now.
One question… Do you have to use a bg image for the menu or can you just specify a background color?
    Thanks

Er yes that might be what you need :). In Gemini the menu bg is a graphic. That way it tiles all the way down regardless of which column is longer.

    Gotcha. Thanks again.

    Hey Root,
Take another look please, I installed Gemini. How can I color in the whitespace within the content area?
    Thanks

    You’re the Man!
Unless, of course, you’re a woman. Then you’d be the Bomb.
    Thanks

Well you are looking good now. It should be easy to add back your fancy bits. Thanks ??
