I verified this matter several ways. Ran the site with a google user agent, with disabled JS, and seen no comments.
Fetched and Rendered the site as google, inside search console, and again have not seen the comments.
Is something missing, or the plugin stopped supporting google user agents?

“Is that is how it suppose to be?”

    What would you expect instead?
Suppose you chose “on click” (just to make the thought process easier),
would you expect spiders to “click” the link, see comments being added to the same page, and consider the total as the page content?

I may be wrong, but I assume spiders aren’t programmed to do that (for obvious reasons which for simplicity I will sum up as “spam” here). People could and would misuse that if spiders did that. No?

Thing is that in the documentation, the plugin creator promise that it doesn’t lazy loading the comments with the User-ID belongs to a spider, that way comments will load when google will crawl the page.

I didn’t see him promising that, where?
Either way, there are two big, and opposed, views of associating comments to the article, pl google it and you will find a very strong community of SEO “experts”(?) who argue against that. Because, your visitors would have to be super bright, super focused, super articulate – like you the article author – (but which they clearly are NOT), in order for your article’s SEO to benefit.

Frankly, even if articles are as “flat”, superfluous, and wrong English, as the comments almost anyone gets, then those articles won’t benefit from more of that kind of “language” (in the comments) either.

And conversely, if your articles are brilliant in all these regards, then comments spidered TOGETHER with them can only LOWER your SEO of those articles.

Common sense, isn’t it? Or, correct me where I go wrong?

    Hey @neoswf,

Can you share one of your URLs? I will check why it is not visible when you fetch as Google. Normally it should load comments when the visitor is not a real user.

Oh Joel if you are still around could you pl solve this too?

Thanks, but the link to your site?

    Thread Starter neoswf

    (@neoswf)

:)))) Noticied after that I have forgotten to place a link to my site ??

I have enabled the plugin. Please test the following page, which has 15 comments only – https://www.saboresdeisrael.com.br/receitas/receita-de-shakshuka-royal.html

Other posts has more than 100 comments, therefor has comments’ pagination.

Let me know if I can de anything else for you.
    Thank you!!!!

(The problem exist with or without comments pagination enabled. Have tested without the pagination. I assume it happens also when its enabled)

@cooldavidoff – I understand your point, and I think its very valid and interesting POV, but still, here are the reasons why I see Comments as an SEO feature:
    1. I belive google understands which part of the content is comments, and which isn’t.
    2. It helps keep a page fresh and alive, and not abandoned. I got hard times updating my blog, and comments, which each week i get some, helps show google that my site isn’t abandoned and therefor he keeps my pages high on the SERP.

    Hey @neoswf,

I can’t fetch as Google from my webmaster account. But while using this tool, I don’t even see the content after the page featured image fetched by the tool. Were you able to see all contents except comments when you fetch?

Hey Joel. Yap, that’s exactly the server response (PrintScreen and DOM code) is showed to me on my search console. The featured image is like that since the theme’s javascript manipulating the UI, have not loaded yet. On the browser the page loads fine and the content is ok.

My PageSpeed report the page does not break, and ranks pretty good & ok on Desktop or Mobile – https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.saboresdeisrael.com.br%2Freceitas%2Freceita-de-shakshuka-royal.html&tab=desktop
