I know this is frustrating but I was reading your comments and I have to say this is not the plugins fault. It is the hosting company you are using. There are so many variables to what you are saying. This can not be pinned on this plugin. I am not affiliated with this plugin by any means. In fact, I am researching backup plugins for my website. I am an IT guy by trade and for people who have no understanding of what you just said could get the wrong impression. I am only writing this because I am a firm believer of showing all the cards on the table so everyone can seem them when accusations like this are made.
In a shared hosting most hosting providers give you 25 process to be used at one time. If you go over this then it times out or shows errors because they throttle this down. We won’t know how much the plugin is using unless you look in your log files and that’s only if you have it set up to read this. Otherwise, it will mostly show you errors.The things that come into play are how many plugins are you using? How many people are going to your website as you are trying to make this backup? If you are using security plugins such as Wordfence or Sucuri they are constantly running sucking up processes to try and help keep your website secure. The list goes on and on. Better hosting seems like the way to fix this issue.
