I have deactivated the WF free version on this site because the wfrules.php file has been truncated at line 3048. How do I fix the file or can I delete the plug-in and reinstall to solve the issue. Below is the error message which created a fatal error trying to login to WP.

[03-Aug-2021 07:33:00 UTC] PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected end of file, expecting ‘)’ in /home/ezrjkszc/public_html/wp-content/wflogs/rules.php on line 3048

This is not my site, it belongs to a client.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hi @emayo, thanks for reaching out.

Using your FTP or hosting file manager, navigate to your wp-content/wflogs folder and find your rules.php file. You can actually delete the wflogs folder or just this file and Wordfence should try to repopulate it within 30 minutes.

Let me know how that goes!

    Peter.

I deleted the rules.php file but so far, WF has not reproduced it. Will check again later. Doesn’t appear to have any effect on the site, so will wait and see.

    Thanks

    Hi @emayo,

Did the site produce the file in the end?

Just checked and it did re-create the file. This was the free version of WF but I upgraded to premium. The site has not had a lot of activity on it as it is in Maintenance Mode. Anyway – all is good now. Thank you for your assistance.
