Blog crashed due to an error. I reinstalled WP and tried to upload a backup from two weeks back (12/14/22). Restoration of the backup stalled at 87% and I got this error:

Warning: require_once(/home/harveypawl4733/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/waf/../vendor/wordfence/wf-waf/src/lib/shutdown.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/harveypawl4733/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/waf/wfWAFIPBlocksController.php on line 4

Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required ‘/home/harveypawl4733/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/waf/../vendor/wordfence/wf-waf/src/lib/shutdown.php’ (include_path=’.:/opt/alt/php74/usr/share/pear’) in /home/harveypawl4733/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/waf/wfWAFIPBlocksController.php on line 4

I appreciate the help. I imagine I might have to try to extract the .wpress backup file and somehow remove WF but right now I have no clue.

Hi @jess888, thanks for your detailed message.

These errors usually show with a corrupt install or failed update, so it’s possible that the initial error crashing your site is still present during the backup restore, or Wordfence may have not installed properly before you attempted to restore the backup.

It could be worth renaming your current wp-content/plugins/wordfence folder to “wordfence_bak” to see if your backup can restore without Wordfence active. If you experience any errors on your front-end regarding wordfence-waf.php during this time, try removing the auto_prepend_file line from your .htaccess file (as this runs the WAF before any page content is served to the browser.) The Wordfence firewall will need to be re-optimized once the site backup is restored.

Let me know if you still see these messages after trying to stop Wordfence from actively running during the backup process,
    Peter.

I’m not sure what it was, but I’m back up now thanks to help from AIO WP Migration. You can delete this post. Thanks so much.
