    Hi.
I checked the “Auto Update” option in WF.
I get this email note on an auto update.

Your Wordfence installation has been upgraded to version 5.2.2
    User IP: 127.0.0.1
    User hostname: localhost

Whos’ local host – this updated from??
    Where is it coming from??

    Thanks
    Fred

  • Localhost is you ??

    127.0.0.1
A loopback address; a non-routable IP address that is defined as referring to the “local” computer.

In other words, 127.0.0.1 is any computer you happen to be sitting in front of right now.
Localhost is usually set to 127.0.0.1

    Thanks for your respond.

I didn’t mean to ask “what is 127.0.0.1”

I know that is a localhost ip.

What I was asking is: when Wordfence Automatically Updates the Plugin (which is an option selected “auto update option in wordfence”)

Why the update happens from IP 127.0.0.1 localhost?

Does wordfence updates from IP 127.0.0.1 localhost?

    Thanks
    Fred

    Ahhh! I understand now. ??

Basically, it’s just how the Wordfence plugin grabs the update for you. Its a scheduled job on your local machine so that’s why you see the ip/localhost thing. We’ll take a look at changing that notification in the future to remove the confusion.

    Hey Tim.

    Great, thanks.

    Hi!!

Sometimes I have a visitor on my blog with the IP address 127.0.0.1, which is looking at different posts I’ve done. The more I search the more confused I become. 127.0.0.1 is not on the list of these 127 numbers starting with 127.0.0.2. Have someone control over my computer? Can my webhotel use this number?

In my log it looks like this:

    Grateful for an answer! ??

It might be that they are altering their headers and spoofing that address. There is a drop down list on the options page that is titled “how wordfence gets it’s ip’s”. You could try working your way through those options or selecting the one that fits your server setup. But before all that I wonder if its really something in your system doing something normal, like a plugin updating posts, or maybe the sitemap plugin indexing things.

If you have further problems please open a new topic so we can better troubleshoot your issue.

It was interesting. A long post comes here. (I am from Sweden so I use google sometimes)

I don′t know if this information is importent in this.
I haven′t that plugins Wordfence, should I use it?

I have visitors from this too and I can see where they are coming from but why are they looking at my posts? Strange.

    127.0.0.34 – mapname.com, PCShell.com
    127.0.0.43 Spycop.com?
    127.0.0.46 – Global Internet Private Registration, 2 spyware.uk.com ?
    127.0.0.54 – Jumpline Whois Privacy
    127.0.0.55 – PerfectPrivacy.com,
127.0.0.60 – Protected Domain Services, Anonymous proxy
    127.0.0.63 – anondns.org, 127.0.0.63/32, Can I, for example block a CIDR in my .htaccess-file?

I use a plugin “Count per Day”, Tom Braider and I love it and I can se everything, and I use “StopSpammer”, Keith P. Graham and it′s stop everything, and “Limit Login Attempts” Johan Eenfeldt, and “Login Logger” Stephen Merriman there I can see every login.
