• Earlier I posted in the “installation” topic about problems getting started. After a few helpful folks here and a lot of searching on the Web, I found what I think to be a contributor to my installation woes.

Basically, another forum posted that there shouldn’t be ANYTHING at the end of the config.php file. Desperate, I checked and found an extra carriage return. I deleted that, saved and uploaded it and I was greeted with the installation screen!

    BUT…

After it gave me login information, it brought me to the “wp-admin/post.php” page where I posted a test post. It worked, but when I click on the other navigation buttons, I’m back to getting the “error connecting to database” message.

    Anyone have an idea why?

    the URL is https://www.familywebwatch.com/blog
I was able to get there once, but when I tried again, that’s when the error message pops up.

Okay, maybe I needed to let the “paint dry”. I published another post and was THEN able to view the blog’s home page as well as get to the other navigational buttons.

I don’t understand why, but glad to know things might get easier. ??

No idea why, as I’m a complete noob at this stuff, but fwiw I can get to your site okay. For your end, perhaps empty your cache and then try again? If that doesn’t get you there, I’m sure some more clever person will be along shortly to help.

If you use Firefox, you often have to clear the cache to see changes.
