    Hi there,
I’ve noticed Imagify often says “WELL DONE. This media file is already optimized, no further optimization is required. ” I believe the plugin displays this too often. In fact, I’d prefer to force Imagify to run on EVERY image, not just those the plugin deems “small enough”.

Here’s the thing: These “well done” images often have small dimensions but a large file size. I’m sure the Imagify algorithm would have no trouble squashing the file size of these images, but I believe it rules them out because of their dimensions.

So I’ve cropped the images to a small size so I’m not wasting pixels on the page, but wasting my effort anyway because the files aren’t being optimised.

Is there a way to force Imagify to optimise these images?

    Cheers
    Hayden

    Hey Hayden,

    Thanks for your feedback.

This kind of problem should not be caused by image dimension, as these should be optimized as well as any other larger image.

Do you have an example of these so we could test them out?

You can try with another compression level and see if it’s going to be optimized, but let me know if we can test it out and see what could be wrong here.

    Best Regards

    Hi there,
I was only guessing that dimensions were the cause, as this typically happens to me on physically small files.

Take a look at this image: https://www.cgdoors.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/baby-icon.jpg

It’s only 170×135 but it’s a whopping 581 KB, much heavier than larger images that Imagify has compressed. I use the highest compression level usually.

Here’s another example from the same page https://www.cgdoors.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/fingersafe-icon.jpg

Thanks for offering to take a look.
    Regards

    Hello @haydenbech

Thanks for your patience! We have sent you a message via our Support channel.

To summarize – At this moment, we will probably skip optimizing images if optimized files are larger than original, as that would be the best (or the only) way at the moment.

At this moment we don’t have a precise estimate when we will be able to implement this but can assure you we are in the middle of finding the solution.

    Best Regards
