Weirdest problem ever: Image refuses to get posted

Have you tried:

– deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

– switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

– resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

And to add insult to injury, the weird classes are added everything I switch from code-mode to WYSIWYG-mode and also when publishing the post. So after a few tries, the code looks something like this:

Yes, of course I have de-activated all plugins :), it was a no-go.

And changed theme? And tried the plugin reset?

I just now tried to upload the image to a 100% clean WordPress install.

Still not working… there must be something wrong with the image, but I just can’t figure out what. I even made a version of the image with just about every piece of meta-info removed.

Is there a photo-expert in the house :D?

Have you tried using another image format – like .png – to see if it’s a jpg encoding issue?

I just tried uploading the image to different websites on different hosts. 3 different websites on 2 different hosts all displayed the exact same results.

However, when downloading the entire website (files and SQL) to my local LAMP, it does work. Could it be a PHP setting?

Well I’m still pretty much clueless.

As far as I can tell, it’s a combination of this image and some PHP setting/script or whatever.

Can anyone download the image and try to add it to a post/draft of theirs as a medium-sized thumbnail? Let me know if it works.

I had the same weird classes being added on my images in wordpress.

I fought this for almost an hour, and I realized it had nothing to do with wordpress eventually. I have the Ad Block Plus extension installed on FireFox and this was my problem. I had a class names “ad-space” and add block plus automatically hid the page item.

I had an image with alt=”ad” and it wouln’t show, I has a dic with class=”ad-space” also wouldnt show.

I had the same weird classes being added on my images in wordpress.

Hopefully this saves someone a future headache.
